Global status in 2025
The UN Sustainable Development Goals Report 2025 reports that approximately 9.1 per cent of the global population — between 713 and 757 million people — faced hunger in 2023, and that 2.33 billion people experienced moderate or severe food insecurity. Four of the seven tracked SDG 2 targets are regressing, making this one of the goals furthest from its 2030 trajectory.

Food insecurity in Europe is closely linked to income instability and the rising cost of living. For a workforce mobility organisation, the relevance of SDG 2 is principally indirect but real: the adequacy of wages in placed roles is a determinant of household food security for the workers NOVARIC® serves.

- Include accommodation and subsistence arrangements within pre-placement compliance checks where these form part of the employment package.
- Apply responsible procurement criteria to any catering or food-related purchasing within NOVARIC® operations.

Before any placement is approved, the decent-work quality gate requires documented evidence that the total remuneration package meets the applicable wage standard and that any deductions for accommodation or subsistence are lawful, transparent and disclosed to the candidate in advance.
